This event was run by the Royal Opera House whose workshops our Key Stage 2 children have been joining across this term. The content of previous events has seen our children being inducted into the world of ballet and dance. This live workshop was again for children in Years 3-6 that gave our children the opportunity to sing along to one of the most famous and beloved operas by Mozart - The Magic Flute.
The session was specially devised for Key Stage 2 children and made the opera fun and accessible. It encouraged creativity and confidence and built on the cultural capital of our pupils, as well as supporting key elements of the music curriculum including understanding music, performing and listening skills.
Our pupils had another great time working with the Royal Opera House staff and performers and also got to ask them questions. The image shows some of the action from the opera.

The next two workshops, later in December, involve the children in stagecraft - designing and making props for Alice in Wonderland and The Magic Flute.
