Spanish
At Longshaw, we learn Spanish as an additional language.
We have a curriculum that reflects our values as a school, and that promotes a love for learning. Children learn languages best if the lessons are fun, engaging and meaningful. Learning a language gives children a better understanding of the world we live in and enable resilience by challenging and openness through experiencing different cultures and points of view.
The curriculum works upon the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Plus the underpinning strands of phonology, grammar and intercultural understanding. We understand that languages are an ongoing learning process, and the more you practice it, the better the outcomes will be.
So this year, children will have access to a Spanish learning platform online. The website's name is Rockalingua. You will find activities, stories, songs, lessons and fun games. The contents are different for each year group, matching the curriculum in place, and they will be changing every half term.
