Packed Lunches
At our Meet the Teacher evening some parents asked about school packed lunches and what a healthy packed lunch consists of.
According to NHS choice a balanced lunchbox should contain:
Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta
Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans
A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt
Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit
As a rule aim to give your child:
- A main e.g. a sandwich / bagel / pasta / vegetable sticks with humus / pitta bread / wrap etc
- Add some fruit
- Add a desert e.g. yoghurt, popcorn, cake, jelly (no block chocolate please).
- Don’t forget a drink—non sugary juice or water.
Please remember that we are a nut free school (so no Nutella / chocolate spread, or anything else that might contain nuts) and that crisps are for Friday’s packed lunch only.
