Reception Admissions

Our PAN for Reception is 30 pupils.

Children can start school (reception class) in the September that follows their 4th birthday.

You must apply for a reception class place for your child even if they attend a school nursery or have an older brother or sister at your preferred school. If your child currently attends a nursery attached to a school this does not give them any priority for a place in reception class at that school.

Applications for Reception places must be completed online through London Borough of Waltham Forest eAdmissions website. This guide explains How to apply for Primary School.

You can apply between 1 September and 15 January. Application recieved after this date are considered as late application.

If you can’t apply online, you can use the primary common application form (PDF). It has instructions on the back explaining how to submit your printed application.

Admissions arrangements for Academic year 2026-27 and 2027-28 can be found here, which includes information on:-

  • arrangements for selecting the pupils who apply
  • our oversubscription criteria (ie. how places are offered if there are more applicants than places)
  • an explanation of the process you need to follow to apply for a place at Longshaw Primary Academy for your child.

If your child attends a nursery (either attached to a school or independent) a copy of the booklet will be sent home with your child. If your child does not attend nursery or you do not receive a copy, you will be able to download it via the link above or from the Waltham Forest website in September www.walthamforest.gov.uk.
