The health, safety and well-being of all our pupils and staff is of the greatest importance to us here at Longshaw.

Thank you therefore to everyone - staff, parents and pupils - for working with us to ensure that the reopening of school, has been safe for all.

You can view our full COVID19 Risk Assessment here which is regularly reviewed following guidance from the government and Public Health England.

Covid19

There is no longer a legal requirement for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection to self-isolate, however if you or your child have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test result, the public health advice is to stay at home and avoid contact with other people.

If your child has Covid symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, please continue to let the school office know - we will continue to provide live remote teaching if your child is feeling well enough, so that they do not miss out on their learning.

Please remember that:

There is no requirement for you to self isolate if you are a close contact.

Children under the age of 18 also, do not need to self isolate if in close contact with someone with Covid. This means that we should not need to close ‘bubbles’ if there is a positive case of covid and your child can continue to attend school unless we are advised otherwise due to a local outbreak.

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Your child does not need a test if they have a runny nose, are sneezing or feeling unwell but do not have a temperature, cough or loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste because these are not normally symptoms of coronavirus.
