Longshaw Nursery is always a busy and fun place to be! The indoor and outdoor learning environments are bright and spacious giving all children the opportunity to explore and learn in their play. Activities and resources are carefully planned to provide a rich variety of first-hand learning opportunities and experiences that encourage children to show interest, curiosity and enthusiasm – the beginnings of lifelong learning.

Nursery Admissions
Our Nursery provision is staffed by extremely well qualified practitioners and led by a very experienced EYFS leader who is also on the school’s Senior Leadership Team.
There is no statutory obligation for children to attend Nursery. As a result of this, the admissions process is entirely separate from the Reception admissions process. This means that having a place in our Nursery does not guarantee successful application for a Reception place.
We offer both 15 & 30 hours funded provisions for those families that qualify.
15 Hours Free Provision
We offer 15 hours of free Nursery provision for all 3 and 4 year olds in line with our Admission Policy.
Children entitled to 15 hours provision will attend our Nursery every morning from 8.50am – 11.45am, although there is the option to build up to this over the first few weeks.
We also offer an additional 15 hours paid childcare provision for working parents requiring longer childcare for their child in the afternoons. Children staying for lunch and for the afternoon session (11.45 - 3.10pm) will need to bring a packed lunch. Click here for information about our Nursery Fees.
30 Hours Free Provision
We offer 30 hours of free Nursery provision for all 3 and 4 year olds whose parents are eligible for the relevant funding. You can check your eligibility for funding here: www.gov.uk.
If your child stays at school all day (8.45am - 3.10pm) then they you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child to eat at lunchtime.
If you would like to visit our Nursery, please email the school office: office@longshawprimaryacademy.org.uk.

Priority Criteria
We follow the London Borough of Waltham Forest’s guidelines for nursery admissions, with the exception that priority is given to children eligible for 30-hour place.
- Children in care or previously in care (e.g., adopted or under special guardianship).
- Exceptional medical or social needs, supported by a qualified professional.
- Siblings of children already attending the school (older siblings are prioritised).
- All other applicants, with preference given to older children.
If there’s a tie within any category, we use the shortest walking distance from home to school (measured using a Geographic Information System). For flats, the distance is measured to the main entrance of the building. In the rare case of a tie, a random allocation system is used.
Please note: There is no statutory right to appeal nursery admissions decisions. Also, a place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in the main school- you’ll need to apply separately through the London Borough of Waltham Forest's Admissions.
